Student Class Evaluations, Spring 2014

<– Back to Artifacts of Teaching

Context and Reflection: Reviewing “Student Class Evaluations” was definitely a humbling experience, but is certainly necessary to improving as an instructor. One of the areas where I was performed worse than I thought was with respect to class preparedness. I made it a goal throughout the semester to try to be very prepared for each lecture, but ultimately the way you convey your knowledge is how the class perceives your preparation. What I have learned is that there is a lot of room for improvement in my delivery and in my confidence in front of the class, and that perhaps it is true that there is no such thing as being over-prepared. In the future, I will strive to be more knowledgeable, a better communicator, and improve in my other weak areas. I was happy that some students found me approachable and helpful, and will continue to be available to students if I have the opportunity to teach in the future.
