Brooklyn

Cycling in Manhattan

It's the day after Thanksgiving, and we decided to go cycling around the city.  We rented bikes here close to Central Park, then rode through the park, to the north end, then out to the west side of the island and rode all the way along the Hudson to Battery Park, through the financial district, by Ground Zero (major construction zone!), under the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg Bridges, back up along the East River, onto city streets (scary) since you can't ride behind the United Nations building, and returned to the bike shop.  All in all, we did about 18.5 miles and saw a great deal of the city.  It was a bit chilly, around 45-50 or so, and overcast, but on the plus side we weren't sweaty 🙂

My pedometer also indicated that we walked around 7 miles to and from the subway and various other parts of the city.  That's basically a marathon (distance) =-)
